Best (and cheapest) Internet Security?

Im having to change from Norton Internet Security at the end of the month as it seems as far as I know that you have to update to the Norton Security rather than the Norton Internet Security program. The only problem is I dont want to pay over £30 for the privelege.

In previous years I have bought a package from 2010 etc for around a fiver and then updated it, Seems you cant now.

So onto new things and was wondering what else is out there what anyone can recommend and what is cheap to buy. I only need cover for one PC as well, so dont need these 3/5 device covers.

Hope someone can help, as I said happy with Norton (5 years without a virus) but having to move on.

You could go Kaspersky (the best, IMO), get 2014 version and it'll upgrade to the latest 2015, on Amazon for £18...

You might get it a little less off Ebay, if you were wanting to chance that.

You might look around and find a trial offer for 6 months on Bitdefender, there's usually an offer somewhere, you just missed a 6 month offer by a day that I know of.

Edit: Found this site with offers on security suites, I've bookmarked it for myself, but I've not seen the site before so can't vouch for it.

there are a lot of antivirus programs that you can use for FREE, assuming you don't need all the bells and whistles (i don't even know what bells and whistles you really need other than a virus scanning software). i personally use the free version of AVG. it works fine.

Avast is available for free and I find it doesnt slow the PC as much as AVG.

I've just started to use Sandboxie. It's not a security thing but while you're using your computer if you click onto anything that could cause problems it's kept within 'the box' which can be cleared at the end of the day.

Why would Freebyman pay for AV?.

Free Panda on two pc's. One belonging to Mrs virus magnet. Virus free for over 5 years.
  • Hi, thanks for all your replies.

    Will give Kaspersky a look.

I am looking for an all in one package, eg anti-virus, firewall, spyware stopper etc.

I know there are lots of free seperate items out there but I wanted a package that takes care of my computer without too much interaction from me.

    Like the others say but...

Tie down your browser. I use firefox and love the ad blocker and noscript even thought it can be a pita with some sites, and a few other addons too. Your browser will probably have equivalents.

then run malwarebytes every few weeks.

I tried sandboxie several years ago, was not totally happy with it. Problrms getting off downloaded files and ie crashing (ie always used to crash of its own accord) but I'm sure they have improved it heaps by now

Hello if you want a Paid for version definitely Kaspersky is the one to go for,in a recent survey it was the only one that stopped 100% of all infections thrown at it.

If you are going for a free one Avast is your best shout in that same survey it came top of the free poll by stopping 93% of all infections thrown at it.

And that same survey also said Microsoft's Anti Virus was the worst they said it was good as useless.

    Hope that helps
