Old PPI (pre 2007)

I am a little confused about the PPI reclaiming process. I believed you could only claim for PPI that was sold after 2007 - however I have read on here that people have claimed PPI sold before then. I had several loans and CC's before then that I am sure I was paying PPI on - and as I get good sick pay could argue I was missold - I wanted to ask 2 questions
1. How far back can I go? and
2. If i dont have account numbers etc how can I find out if I have had PPI? (when my ex and I split in 2007 he took all paperwork with him so I have no record of who or what I was paying or account numbers - but I can remember a few providors).
Thanks in anticipation

There is no date on PPI. I have never seen any reference to 2007. So, not sure where you got that date.1. How far back can I go?
About mid 80s when PPI was first retailed.2. If i dont have account numbers etc how can I find out if I have had PPI?

Do note that any joint finance would require both original signatories to complain. So, you'd have to contact your ex and get his permission and agreement to a complaint from both of you.0
