What rubbish!
Do I have to tell the taxman when hubby hands me over the shopping money on a Friday evening:rotfl: :rotfl:
my ex b/f did not live with me but did help me out finacially and according to fraud investigator I should have told them about it as it is counted as income and the fact he stayed about once a week he could be seen as living with me in their eyes.....................see solicitor tomorrow so hopefully sort it out.
basically I was left with the impression when on benefits you cannot have a b/f stop over and gawd forbid they pay a bill for you or for some shopping........I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

I wasn't talking about people on benefits, the OP as far as he was aware was not a family in reciept of benefits. Therefore he wouldn't have to notify anyone before he handed over the housekeeping.0 -
once we get onto this conversation everyone jumps in. Got a number of issues on this but won't go there as it really ******** me off. i.e. people claiming everything under the sun and living the life of luxury.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0

That is the silliest thing I have ever heard and by doing it you are in effect making an admission of liability. Surely there must be other evidence that you did in fact live there? You can't be the only person ever to have been placed in this position?
I would contact my local MP as this issue needs to be addressed at the highest level.
In this country we are innocent until proven guilty. Please don't give in and pay this money that you don't owe. Stand up and be counted!
You are right it is silly!!!! But we haven't just sat back and done nothing, we've tried to gather as much info as possible, we've actually been to our MP, who only wrote to the CSA a couple of times but was no help. The only way forward that we can fight it is with money legally. You cannot even begin to imagine how much time and stress this has caused me and my new wife already, and I do appreciate your advice, but please don't tell me that in this country we are innocent until proven guilty, because if you have no proof you are as guilty as the next person. I am innocent and in the eyes of the CSA just because I didn't get myself on a d*mn utility bill, the rent agreement or electoral role I apparently can't prove my existence for 3 years. By the way, someone mentioned that it is illegal to not be on the electoral role, well it isn't. There are thousands of people in the forces that are on the electoral role because they move around so much. With regards to bank statements you can get bank statements but not with you old addresses on them. I have been down every single avenue of investigation and the bottom line is, we don't have proof that the CSA will take, they will only take the above forms of proof. Nothing and I repeat nothing else will do. We were told recently that P60s or old pay slips wouldn't even be considered. The only way would be to take it to court and we simply don't have the money for that, but in the ironic law of the land we earn too much to qualify for legal aid. Bitter Pill - swallowing!! Sorry if I sound ungrateful for the advice, but I really have tried everything in my financial and mental power to prove my innocence. The leason I have learned is to keep everything, document everything, trust no one!!!0 -
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Which bank are you? I used to work for a bank but never had the rule that old statements could only be provided for the current address. As long as you quote your account number (and pay a fee probably) it should be possible to obtain statements for the last 6 years.
I suggest you approach a different source at the bank and try again. If you contacted a helpline at the bank, try a branch staff member and vice versa. Worth a try especially as the statements would enable you to prove your existence at the address concerned.0 -

I even called them yesterday to see if P60 or tax records would serve as proof but they don't. Interesting that in this day and age with big brother you can live with someone for 3 years and not be able to prove it at all. I also have no bank statements dating back that far and the bank only provide old statements with your current address on. The dentist and doctors don't have old records, driving licence don't there is nothing. I think I will just have to swallow the bitter pill for a monthly direct debit to the CSA for her fraud and pray that Karma is my only hope

Sorry to hear of this mess.
With regard to the doctors records; your old address should still be on your paper medical records. At the GP where I work, when a patient changes address, the previous address is crossed through and the new one entered below. If the surgery is also computerised, as most are now, even if it is your new address on the computer, if your old address has ever been on the computer, an audit trail can be carried out and the staff could verify when your address was changed, and from what and to what. Also, if we enter a change of address on the computer, we routinely request a new medical card to be sent to the patient. Do you not have your old medical card, which should be dated? This might help.
Best wishes and good luck

It is illegal for someone not to be on the electoral roll. It is proof that is where you live.
