I have an old Fuji Finepix F455 camera that works fine even though its about eight or nine years old. Trouble is my desk top computer had to be cleared and then everything re-installed. It works fine now but I've realised that now when I plug the camera into the system (It's Vista) it doesn't pick it up anymore. There used to be a page that came up that asked if I wanted to import photos, view photos etc. but not anymore! When I plug in the camera via a usb then go to 'my computer' its not showing up there either. I can't use the card in my actual computer because it doesn't have a slot for it. Could I just get a card reader and plug that in?
Can anyone point me in the right direction please? I am scared of downloading things in case the site is dodgy and I get a virus or something.

I use free google picasa. here is the genuine link;
http://picasa.google.com/
When installed click on 'Import'. it should detect the camera & bring your pics that way. Its a great prog to organise ur pics as well

Thanks for the link. I have downloaded it and have read about how to import but the options are greyed out so I can't tell it to import from my camera. Any clues on what to do next?:hello: :wave: please play nicely children !0

are you referring to Picasa? If so maybe try another lead or borrow a camera that ur card fits into! to get pics off
anyway your old camera is ancient now in tech terms(10 years), being only 5 mega pix
You will find Higher spec pocket cameras are very cheap now

My 10 year old Canon ixus was magnificent, and despite only being 5mp created some really nice pictures. Don't write off old cameras!
That fuji could be used quite nicely - https://www.flickr.com/cameras/fujifilm/finepix_f455/
Yes, you can get a XD USB Card reader - Eg. for £3.99 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/DIGIFLEX-Memory-Card-Reader-Mobile/dp/B002N61ES60 -
Think i will go down the card reader route then i can use it with more than one item, andI can understand what I'm doing with it lol! Thank you for your help everyone! i love how helpful people are on here:beer::beer::beer::hello: :wave: please play nicely children !0

BTW, your issues is probably with Vista and the drivers for the USB ports.. there's a slim chance that if you plug in a card reader it will also ignore it.0
