    Who said anything about left or right? Caring for country, community, others is just what thinking people do as opposed to the selfish. We all may think that "our" party has the answer to the global good. And we may all be wrong or right.
    The cult of absolute self may have emanated from Thatcherism (no such thing as community) but I'm pretty sure not all holders of right wing views share that philosophy.
    As for you robin61, I honestly hope that you never need the taxpayer to help you though hardship, radiotherapy, or even using the road to work. Because to do so will really unsettle you, and we wouldn't like your certainties to be disabused. Take care.

    I sleep soundly at night knowing that I have contributed more than most and am therefore fully entitled to use whichever public services I need to use.
