Predators stalk your pension

The leaflet that accompanies pension illustrations and transfer values would be more appropriate if it used this picture instead of a scorpion ....

I am sorry but your comment is far from useful. You are making a political point. This forum is much better used for making practical suggestions and responding to the genuine needs of others.

Quite right. And anyway if you are going to show a photo of Balls it should be the one when he's wearing a Nazi uniform, and for Moribund the one where he wrestles a bacon sandwich and loses.
Free the dunston one next time too.

Polical point for sure but I think there is a practical suggestion i.e. don't vote for Red Ed and Ballsup if you are fond of hanging onto your tax relief at the rate you actually pay tax at and indeed your PCLS.

I thought it was quite funny.

Politically though, taxation on death is something Labour like whereas Conservatives do not. So, the death benefit on pensions has to be on their radar.

He seems to do this sort of thing every few days.
Probably works for Central Office. More to be pitied than condemned.
    Best ignored.

Well, everyone has their politics and their preferred way to run an economy, generally skewed by what they think will likely be best for themselves and their family - and usually backed up with some justification or at least a cursory nod towards the idea that their proposed suggestion should from some viewpoint be capable of being seen as "fairer" or "for the greater good".

At one extreme you have communism and the other you have capitalism. In between you have the traditional "right", with typically lower taxes and lower government spending, or the "left", with higher taxes and greater spending. Same in UK (con vs lab) as U.S. (rep vs dem) albeit different extremes. But basically if you want to be able to keep more of what you earn, vote for a right wing party that is less of a fan of taxes.

When there is an organisation out there who may well introduce rules which have the potential to adversley impact your investment I would not ignore someone who warns against getting involved with them. I couldn't care less if he is playing politics.

The posting that started this up was nothing to do with reasoned discussion on the different party policies relevant to pensions and retirement.

Any warning from someone with a political agenda must be suspect - as suspect as warnings of doom from someone with any other strongly held fixed beliefs in gold or bitcoins. To be successful with investing you need an open mind.

It would be a great pity if this forum becomes a pale shadow of the "Debate" forum. It would be one which I wouldnt want to take part in. Please could people keep their political jibes to the forum provided for the purpose.

I am finding the trend of some of these comments totally appalling.
You only have to read some of the forums on MSE to realise that things politically are not so simple as left and right.

I was the one who mentioned left and right but the point was not to talk about how to vote. The point is, most of us have an idea of what a group of politicians will claim to intend to do for us for better or worse, and if we don't, we should probably endeavour to find out. What is likely to be best for individuals depends on individual circumstances and is obviously not as clear cut as left or right depending on whether our existing pension pot is low or high.

So, painting one party as the good guys or bad guys on a specific forum for pensions or for loans or credit or investment or whatever, should not need doing ; we have our ideologies and should not need helpful hints or politically slanted diatribe on how we might like to vote to make the world a better or worse place. A "practical suggestion" that we can influence future policies by voting, is not a suggestion that needs to be made, because we all know what voting is.

The forums work better when the politics stays in the pub or the "debate the economy" board or somewhere people are not going for actual real advice and questions about how pensions work.
