Bounced direct debit affect credit rating?

Hello,

Does a bounced direct debit affect my credit score?

The organisation the direct debit is setup with is not on my credit report, so there is no late/missing payment to report. I am just wondering if the fact that there was a bounced direct debit in my current account affect anything?

I received a letter from my bank telling me it had bounced and that I would have to pay £8. I don't have any overdraft setup on my account.

As long as you still make the contracted payment on time you should be ok. It may affect your status with your bank but if you manage your account within the available balance from now on it will lessen the impact

The organisation the direct debit is setup with does not report to the credit agencies, so I am not worried about that.

What I am worried about is if the bank themselves report that there was a returned direct debit? My bank is Barclays.
