Credit card protection on accommodation booking

Hi,

I'm going to work abroad for the winter and the accommodation options all require up front payment of the entire season (this appears to be quite normal).

Whilst I'm happy the organisation I'm sending the money to is legit am I correct in thinking that paying £100 on my credit card then the other £5000 by bank transfer means the WHOLE amount is covered by my credit card (should something go horribly wrong)?

Thanks!

  • As long as the credit card payment is directly to the merchant and not via a third party like PayPal then the whole transaction is covered no matter how little you pay on the credit card as long as the total cost for the item/ service is between £100 and £30,000
