Trees and overhead powercables

Afternoon all
There are some trees at the front of my property, evergreen type, not sure of exact species, that have grown a massive amount over the last years ive lived here (at least 3 foot) and as a result are now within a few inches of an overhead power line. What do i need to do to rectify this? I don't fancy touching them myself as I prefer not to be electrocuted! Can I get any normal tree-cutter to do it or would wester utilities or something simular do the work? (I live in west wales if that helps?) how much should I expect to pay?
Regards
Paul

Your local supply won't be uninsulated so don't worry too much.
The tree feller of your choice will be in the know, just ensure he is insurance protected.
£200 fells and takes away a 30ft x 2ft dia conifer around here, I asked for a quote last year.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

The electricity board did the ones in the lane where I live. I remember because they turned the power off all day while they did it.0 -
Best to speak to the respective Utility, they will be able to advise. If you do any work near their assets and damage is caused or their is damage that coincides with your work, you may have a big bill.0

What makes you say that ?
I live in mid wales and around here you will find more un insulated local supplies than ABC local supply
www2.nationalgrid.com/UK/Safety/Trees-and-vegetation-near-overhead-power-lines/
you will see in that link it says
All vegetation clearance work beneath and adjacent to overhead electricity lines must be carried out by specially trained staff
the power company will employ specialist contractors for power line clearance so best thing you could do is find a non emergency number for western utilities and raise your concerns with them0 -

Worst bit of advice I have ever seen on here

And get proper advise0 -
Western Power should be monitoring the trees, but obviously, with many thousands of miles of cable they could miss yours.
As above, give them a ring. They will take whatever action is required and they won't charge to fell or prune trees around distribution cables.0
