UKPC unfair fine - Advice please?

Okay, first of all, I am 100% not guilty of what they are putting against me.

I stayed at a friend's place at his Uni. The next morning I went to McDonalds where it was a FREE car park for 2 or 3 hours (cannot remember). I parked there for about half an hour max and left to view a car. After viewing this car I returned to the uni. I then moved from the uni and parked on a road which I was allowed on near the McDonalds I had parked in previously. I said my goodbyes to my friend and then used the McDonalds entrance to turn around.

This is how I got the fine. They claimed I was there for nearly 5 hours which I most definitely didn't do. They got a photo of me entering when I had my McDonalds and my leaving photo a good 5 hours later was when I used the entrance to turn around so they did not use the photos of me leaving half an hour after I had my McDonalds and didn't take a picture of my car entering when I used the entrance to turn around.

I have moved addresses and moved out from my parents who have moved else where. All my post is directed to their new address and I keep getting letters about this. First it was £25 in the first 14 days. I went to pay this fine and after entering my reference etc. it came up with £50. I then checked the photos and realised it was the McDonalds car park. I have definitely been scammed. I have sent an appeal to them which they have not responded to and instead, sent me a reminder letter asking for £100 and threatening me with debt collectors.

I owe them sweet FA. What shall I do? Get CCTV evidence of me being at the uni? This will 100% prove that I was not in the car park at the time.

I'm just absolutely furious as I am completely innocent and shouldn't have to pay a penny. If I knew I had done wrong, I would've happily paid the £25 fine.

How much power do the UKPC have? It was a completely free car park anyway, and I was most certainly not there for the time stated, no way near. I have witnesses such as my girlfriend, the gentlemen I went to see to view the car (may have CCTV at his unit?), my friend at the Uni + CCTV footage? I have mentioned the above in my appeal, not that it's any of their business what I was doing in the time they claimed I was parked at McDonalds.

This is called double dipping and is a well known scam used by parking companies.

Start by reading the Sticky thread for NEWBIES at the top of the main page. This gives you all the information you need on how to beat this scam.

Also, it is not a fine. It is a speculative invoice.

Use the Forum Jump to get back to page one when on any thread. It's a shame to rely on links. Please, now, to improve your own understanding of the forum and how to use it, do try the Forum Jump and click 'GO' instead of just clicking on fisherjim's links without any clue where those threads are. The NEWBIES thread is 2nd from top of page one which is where the Forum Jump takes you. It means you can then read ANY thread and still find your way home to the first page of current threads.
