Daughter needs a tablet to take to university to make notes and read reports. Am looking for a tablet with a budget of around £150 but may exceed that for a good quality tablet.
At the moment she is using her mobile nokia 625 which is a windows phone and came with office installed.
looking for a 7, 8 or may go up to 10" screen.
would like it to have office installed, no trial offer.
would prefer windows first then android
thanks

Actually, I'd suggest pen and paper - taking notes on a tablet is slow and you have to rely on the battery to stay good for a whole day.
You can get a tablet for fun, in which case a Hudl or Nexus7 will do the trick, with Google Docs/Sheets (free) will do the trick and provide a way to do casual note consolidation.0 -
You will need proper keyboard to take notes...

Thanks for the replies.
Interested mainly in the microsoft word product. True I could download openoffice etc.
You may be right in saying it is quicker to use the old method pen and paper.
Caught her reading a long document on her mobile in the car on a long journey (I was driving). I suggested getting a tablet to make it easy for her to read. Laptop would be bulky. She said she could take it to uni etc.
Main thing is I want a tablet for her to carry in the purse so she can read document in word or pdf format.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems Well at least i learn something on the way0 -

How does it compare to nexus7 and hudl?Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems Well at least i learn something on the way0 -
I'd always treat tablets as a 'consumption' item - its good for reading slides/notes/books .. but poor and slow to actually create stuff from scratch on.
If she's getting all her slides printed out in lectures, then it makes sense to write on that paper. If there's no notes at all - paper will be quickest (and good practice for exams)
If the notes are all downloadable before lectures, then maybe it makes sense to annotate them directly on a device.0
