Who is your lender? Are you getting some sort of legal fees deal?
Most solicitors can work with most lenders, if you are paying your own legal fees.
If the lender is paying your legal fees as part of a deal, then they will have a much more limited panel of lawyers you can use. These will be paid a low rate by the mortgage co. so in most cases, the work will be being done on a 'bulk' basis - similar to a call centre, with largely unqualified staff.
This is not necessarily a problem if everything is straightforward but does mean that it is more prone to issues if there is anything which is at all out of the ordinary and doesn't fit the 'cookie cutter' scripted work.
With any big 'conveyancing factory' you will find people who have had good and bad experiences.
Whether or not the other party to the transaction has a proper solicitor will make a difference.
if there is an option for you to have some cash back instead and pay for your own solicitor then I would do that if you can, as you can then chose someone local by reputation. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Don't touch PPL with a barge pole. They got my name wrong, gender wrong, wife's name wrong, lost all the paperwork so we had to do it all twice and despite being told for weeks not to pay the early repayment charge, by the bank, they did it anyway. They also charge for all sorts of things you don't need or normally pay for so all in, it works out more expensive. My whole experience was an utter nightmare! We completed on Friday 7th Nov.....0

Is it Precise by any chance?
I have been told my BDM there to use JMW as they are a new firm so in terms of cases, they are probably not going to be as busy as the rest.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. My brother-in-law used JMW for his apartment and it went very smoothly.
Also I know solicitors who work there - great people. It is not a new firm as ACG implies - JMW is a full services law firm in the heart of the legal district in heart of Manchester.
