Monday 27th October - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

Morning!
Today I'm having a no spend day - bread from the freezer for lunch to make an egg mayo sandwich then to my sister's for tea later. I also have a cupcake from the wedding I attended to satisfy my sweet craving!
Plan for tonight is to make a meal plan, so that I can head to my local Lidl when I get paid tomorrow and buy what I need - out of cash, as I'm not going to carry my card around with me to reduce overspending.
I'm also enjoying our mild October so that I don't need to put the heating on yet!
I also need to make a bit of a plan for Christmas presents and start to get some stuff this month. Thankfully I have a small family, and me and my OH have agreed to put the money we'd spend on each other towards our holiday next year.
Have a great day everyone!0 -

[STRIKE]Morning[/STRIKE] Afternoon all - where has the time gone  Oops as you can see I am very confused by the clock back 1 hour thing

So far today I have:

Used up some fruit and yogurt for breakfast
Bought only a loaf of bread in the supermarket. I didn't need anything else, so didn't buy it :A
Still to do:
Collect auction items I bought on Saturday, sort them out and put away. I am surrounded by boxes as we speak  still, it has been sorted and cleaned up ready to drag upstairs to the loft
Do some admin for my business Done
Sort out banking paperwork  Well, I have a whole binbag full of paper for burning (shredder has packed in, so it will have to be used for lighting the woodburner) but I am also surrounded by papers and files. Hmm there seems to be a pattern emerging here:eek:
Make soup for lunches Not done, too many papers and boxes
Cold meat from yesterday's roast, beetroot salad and jacket potatoes for dinner tonight

Hi All
Waves to all
Well today has been just lovely so far. Half term so son is home. The weather couldn't have been any better. We did a quick shop then went to our local park where my son had a great time climbing trees, racing me over some boulders next to the river, playing on the equipment & then we messed about with a cricket bat & tennis ball for over an hour.
Bits of Money saving so far
1) shopped using a shopping list
2) entered my shopping spend into my money app immediately
3) Found a brand match coupon on the floor for £2.17 free money!
4) son found 1p
5) My lunch is a mystery spaghetti ensemble I defrosted so using up leftovers & helping shopping bill
6) have lined up to borrow a friends car on the weekend so we can go down to Drusillas park our favourite place, & use our free days out vouchers we got for our last quarter of Tesco points. Normally it would be £50 for a family of 3 but free with the vouchers. We have already borrowed a car from these friends for several months between February & April when our old car had clutch failure. So they are amazing people. He works away & she doesn't drive so they have it to spare but still.
As our current car is about to be sold on ebay or gumtree for spares due to the crooks we bought it from selling us a pile of junk with a £900 oil leak & possible transmission failure we have been car less since August. But I am not really missing it.
Need to remind husband to cancel car insurance which is a £40 saving although we will have to pay a cancellation fee sadly.
7) waiting for our music magpie parcel to be collected today with £25 worth of dvds in it. Have said I will split that with son as he was the owner of the ddvd but we bought them!
8) will be making a Victoria sponge this afternoon. It's a big hit on our weekly radar now. 30p strawberry jam filling you can't go wrong.
9) making a roast dinner tonight with the 2nd lot of chicken from our £4 bag. I used it last night to make home made fried chicken and rice which has done OH for lunch today & one more piece in the ffridge. After tonight's roast there will still be some left so thinking risotto and sandwiches for further meals. Excellent value for anyone who is a sainsburys shopper.
Think that's all. Checked banking as well. Which I normally remember to do before I log in here these days

Hello all
Lovely sunny day here - hope OH has remembered to hang out the washing (he is at home all week, I am at work today then off for the rest of the week - yay!). Will text him a reminder.
I drove to work - highly unusual these days. Car still rattling a bit but I am reassured by friends car expert hubbie that it's nothing major (and definitely not in need of a new exhaust, or even a part of one).
Just had my HM soup for lunch - butternut squash and spinach with some of that dried "soup mix" to bulk it out. Son1 has started to take soup for his lunches too - healthier and cheaper than sandwiches. Have yet to convert OH and Son2.
Have checked bank accounts. Our spending account takes ages to update online - need to check again tomorrow (weekend spend not showing yet).
Best wishes x0 -

I normally try and have a few stamps in as I normally use them quite quickly. I am deliberating over Xmas cards this year though. Do I really want to spend £50 on sending cards now even a 2nd class stamp is so expensive?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
