Posting comps for 2015

As we are nearly in 2015 maybe it is a good time to just have a quick look over the comping guide re title posting etiquette:

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1014121

If you have a rare comp that has more than a year to the end date then please stick to the posting convention above then put a space & put the year in brackets - but only if it is MORE THAN 12 months ahead.
E: 02/04 (2018) Win....... <-Only if comp is more than 12 months away from ending.

Therefore the addition of the year is not required in the comp title unless the comp currently ends after 26/10 in 2015 and so on through 2014.

No offence meant to anyone & I appreciate all the hard work that goes in to posting these threads.

thanks for sending me DM message for this thread & asking for my HO,

(name omitted as not allowed to discuss pm/dm's names on MSE)

on a few occasions comps have been prematurely sent unintentionally to GO
    when/if members who are helping
clear the boards to GO only read the titles &/if they've
not had time to read down into the thread/posting
especially when nearing the end of the year,

i've always posted the new year in my titles when
posting comps nearing the end of the year
    (since 2007!!)
to try to save any misunderstanding & save the BG's
& the poster time from having to pm a BG &
having them reinstalled back on the live comps board,

yes, lots don't get sent to GO but some do,
i then, after the new year will go back to the posting/s &
'take out' the year ending & if i see any others with it in
(especially ones i've helped a newbie/comp poster with)
& will pm a BG to alert them the E: (year ending)
isn't needed in the title any more,
the BG will usually amend the thread without any
fuss or undue attention or bumping of the thread,
or will PM/DM the poster to let them know,

no offence meant to anyone as we are all just compers/members who are free to use this board &
post the best way we feel for all of us & until/when/if/or i
    get a message PM/DM from
someone in authority ie: a Board Guide or Admin
politely asking me to do any different
i'll be the first to help & do whatever,
not from members/compers/posters who have no
authority to be telling others what to do.
please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly. k2u58ioz4c8e.png

No problem at all & thanks for all your input to the forum.I just thought that it was a good juncture to establish the protocol/etiquette for the new year.

Thanks again for all your help.

I cannot find the thread atm due to the search limitations of MSE re total number of search returns.
I do recall Glad advocating the very same posting style that I have mentioned around this time in 2013 due to issues re adding years to titles.
Maybe someone could post the relevant thread for information.

Thanks for mentioning this as I had noticed one or two competitions with the year in the title.

Couldn't really see the point in doing that unless there are some old competitions from the start of this year on the board. Going back and taking the year out just sounds like a faff.

I'm sure we went through this last year and posters were being told to put the year in when they didn't need to as per the comping guide. Must be nearly Pringles time ....

Hi,moneybot. It was Glad that replied to a post re adding the year.I just cannot find the post as MSE only returns 300 posts & the thread in question is outside of that range.

My goodness there is nothing like half term to give you the time to hunt down random posts..

As Glad says there is no need to add the year unless the end date is more than 12 months in the future.

    agreed :)
if I do see one with the year in and less than 12 months to run I usually edit out

on balance I'd get less pm's about threads wrongly sent to GO than I would asking me to edit titles where people have added 2015 over the last few months of the year

    thanks all :)

Thanks for finding the thread & thanks to Glad re the clarification.

We should all be fully aware re title posting for the future.
