Miscalculated weight for charging postage

I asked for £5.00 postage for the Wellingtons I am selling on Ebay by using the small parcel by Royal Mail. Now I think that the Wellingtons may weigh a bit more than 2kg. It has already a bidder, so I can't change the postage on Ebay.
If the parcel is over the 2kg limit, I end up paying £13.75.
Can I ask the final bidder to accept a different courier?
I don't have any experience with other couriers who are cheaper than Royal Mail. Even after checking out My Hermes, do they leave a card where to collect the parcel if nobody is at home? Like Royal Mail does?
Thank you.

You could always send them separately. Two second class 1-2kg small parcels by Royal Mail would be £5.60 (2 x £2.80)I asked for £5.00 postage for the Wellingtons I am selling on Ebay by using the small parcel by Royal Mail. Nope, as it's your mistake, you need to cover the costs.

It isn't a good idea to change the postal method to something other than is advertised.
Some buyers may only want Royal Mail, as they know they can go to collect the item from their local sorting office.0 -

Thank you for your answers.
But thanks to "RFW" I found the perfect solution.
This will work perfect, as I will send each boot signed for.0 -

That's madness, just use Hermes or one of the other cheepo carriers.
What if one boot arrived before the other one, buyer will be hopping mad...?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

In future, weigh and measure your item in the packaging you intend to use and state postage price accordingly.0

Thank you. I usually do. But it is not always possible to weigh certain items without going to the PO, especially when not having an accurate scale at home and the item is just a bit over the weight limit.0
