Advice regarding terrible garage mechanic service! Please!!
Okay long story short my parents brought a Mercedes A-Class 2004 automatic, so the a classes are known for gearbox issues. So back in summer when the gearbox was acting up, we went around to different garages and specialists to see who would fix it. Found a garage and four months later still the car is at the garage despite being told the gearbox was fixed two weeks ago, but being held because of other issues which as far I know was never there. Here are my concerns:
1) The general service is atrocious, the main mechanic is extremely rude, whenever me or my parents tries to contact him he will either not answer or cut the conversation short by hanging up. Once he hung up straight away after I asked for an update on the Merc A class. When talking to the other mechanic on the phone, I overheard the main mechanic to hang up the phone and get back to work.
2) My father first dropped the car off to the mechanic, my father first told him that he wants to know if he could do the job and give him a quote first before doing the job. I later find out he agreed he could do the job but would give us a price after he completed it and keep it reasonable. However, after four months I am worried he will charge me so much on just the labour work let alone the gearbox work and other issues.
3) For the first two months I found out he didn't do any work at all because he was waiting for a car part which he failed to tell us until the second month when me and my father had to drive down to the garage ourselves. So communication has been lacking, especially when me and my brother went again and complained, we said that we were paying him a service to fix our car and he was not providing the service in reasonable time. He called it bullsh*%, he wasn't doing a service or anything, that he is fixing our car, he doesn't want to wait time talking and just fix the car and then will then give us a quote not before then.
4) My father is an older gentleman, so when I heard he made my father wait nearly two hours before he acknowledged my father and then blew him off, I was upset to say the least, which prompted me to go for a third time. After an hour he did the same with me. He said its not his job to update us, his job was to fix the car and move on, any complaints or reasons we need the car fixed means I quote jacksh*& to him.
5)10 days ago the mechanic called my brother and said the gearbox was fixed but there was now issues with the electronic system, the temperature gauge and other issues, which my uncle a retired mechanic dealing with custom cars informed me that the gearbox was the only fault. So as stated before I'm concerned that the mechanic is being dodgy and going to make me pay for extra stuff that was not necessary.
Any advice on my situation? Please any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

If your fed up with the wait tell them down tools on it and move it where it can be collected, Turn up with a tow truck tell them your taking it away now will settle the bill, have it assessed at another garage.
pre inspect it for any damage and pilfered parts take photo's and video ONSITE before its moved of the damage or missing parts .
any damage other than pre existing ask for liability insurance.
Any parts missing, sue in the small claims plus the cost of getting fixed.0 -
I think Anne Robinson would have a field day with this guy...0

Go in person.
About time you started making yourself heard.
Get the car away from them.0
