Options
Hello all . Help needed . As anyone been successful with a ppi claim against associates finance or citi financial ? . I have attempted to re claim what i know is a very genuine claim , however without relevent paperwork i do understand the difficultly involved . I have in the past contacted citi financial with the relevant form and attached payment but have had no response . I next tried using the services of a company on my behalf but they again didnt get anything back . I know for certain the loans i had were both only accepted if i took out PPI ./ As i was and still am self employed . Therefore i would love to hear back with any assistance and anyone who has been successful with these companies in the past or with anything ongoing . Many thanks for help

How do you know for certain about only being accepted and also what is wrong with cover for being self employed ?
  • I dont see the problem with a offer of ppi for myself been self employed . My problem is that i was verbally told that my loan was dependent on acceptance on the condition that the ppi was included . However that was then and now i just wish to find out if i can get anything back that i feel is due . so hopefully someone may post with details of a successful claim against these companies . Many thanks for your reply

Have Citi already rejected your complaint because you cannot provide the loan documents?
Were the loans paid off more than six years ago and Citi cannot find your details without the reference number? From my own experience you need the account number, so my advice is to keep looking for it!

A lot depends on whether you can find evidence of a loan sold with an attached insurance policy, proof of payment and strong mis-selling reasons e.g. single premium ppi, sometimes self employment.

Check your old bank statements which may show the loan direct debits and possibly an account number. Why not phone Citi and ask them to search their database for these loans?

Finally, if you've signed a contract with a CMC about this complaint you may have to pay them out of any redress Citi gives you.
  • Thanks for your help . I will continue to search and hopefully find some info .

That's a very weak "hearsay" complaint. Do you have any verifiable evidence that you were mis-sold?
  • Can anyone help regarding the Associates Finance, I don't have my account number or paperwork now as this was between 1980 and 1986, and they were based in Newmarket Street Falkirk.

PPI was not retailed in this period, so your finance can't have had the insurance attached.

Dottydad's not been on this forum since 2015, so I don't think he'll respond to your post, however, in order to make a complaint about PPI sold thirty years ago you will need to provide the lender with at least an account number and proof of payment.

Banks say they cannot locate older customer accounts in their archive systems like transaction data (which is stored in microfilm), without a valid reference number, as there won't be any paper records left, so keep looking for your for own evidence.

Regardless, PPI was not retailed during the mid 1980's, so your finance is very unlikely to have had the insurance attached. Late 1980's is when PPI became widespread.
