Late payment on creditfile

Hi all

I had a credit card maxed out at £2,000 which I was unable to repay around 3 years ago.

They threatened to default me, I wrote to them that for medical reasons I was unable to repay them at that time, they accepted this and said they would not chase the debt.

Barclaycard have hit my credit file with a late payment mark every month for the past 2.5 years. No default, no correspondance, no chasing. However in June 2014 they stopped marking my account with anything.

Am I able to write to them to get them to remove the 2.5 late payment marks? If so what should I say to them?

My plan is not to pay them anything at this moment in time, just to get my credit file in order as I believe it has been marked incorrectly.

Thank you in advance.

Do you find what Barclaycard have been reporting to the CRAs as inaccurate?

    Good luck...

Sadly, no. You payment is still late. They have played the game and not defaulted you - that will come and take a big chunk out of your financial credibility.

It may be better to get it over with, and ask them to default you now as at least it will expire quicker, then hanging over you and possibly causing greater issues later.

If you believe the late marks to be recorded incorrectly you might want to let the credit reference agencies who you have your credit report with know (Experian, Equifax or Callcredit) if you haven't already done so.

You may also want to ask to add a note to your credit report to notify them of the circumstances you want to explain, as the information we hold is not necessarily the same.

    I hope this helps.
