    Taken as read! But that's a different thing to "won't work", of course.

    But this thread has reminded me that I really ought to check what the stub of cable, wrapped in electrical tape, sticking out of my bathroom ceiling is for and if it's live...

    Yep, live with the lights on. Straight out of a junction box behind the ceiling, and dangling out just past a timber - take the tape off, and the two ends are trimmed short and tucked back into the outer sheathing... Lovely. Now there's four foot of disconnected cable coiled up to go to the shed.

    We won't even mention the VERY non-IP-rated light fitting right next to the shower screen. That bathroom is on the to-do list.
