Halifax just allowed payment from old card??

Hi, Just checked my bank this morning and found I was £35 down! I checked pending transactions and todays date shows the card payment of £35 to a company called JustFab, I used this company last year to buy my partner some shoes for xmas only to find they take £35 a month after your first purchase to credit your account for more purchases! I didn't want this and had a nightmare of a time trying to cancel the payments so I canceled the debit card which of course stopped the £35 monthly payments from coming out that is until today!!! The bank even shows the payment being taken from the old card which even backs up the fact there has been some big error here! That card was canceled 12 months ago!

I am about to ring my bank and I assume the £35 will be refunded by my bank for this error?

It sounds as if you gave that company a CPA. This can't be cancelled by cancelling the card. Read this article for a possible resolution:

Thanks, The problem is the payment was taken from a cancelled card with obviously a completely different long card number, the cancellation of the card last year must have worked as there were no more recurring payments after that until now 11 months on.

A recurring payment isn't necessarily a monthly payment. In your case, it appears to be a yearly one.

You cannot cancel a recurring payment by cancelling your debit card.

Another obvious explanation that they didn't attempt to collect money for 11 months. You authorised them to take £35 monthly, but failed to cancel the authorisation. Read the article and you'll see that cancelling the card doesn't cancel the authorisation and doesn't stop the payments being taken.

Your VIP membership obliges you to make the following choices each month: either make a purchase, or if you are not interested, to skip the month by the 5th of the month. Note: If you do not take action by the 5th, you will be charged £35 for a member credit, which can be redeemed at any time for 1 JustFab style worth £35.

The monthly subscription fee for the JustFab VIP Membership Programme is £35

The Visa system allows CPA payments to be transferred from an old card to a new one. Call your bank then call the retailer to cancel your subscription. If you didn't cancel it at the time you cancelled the card you may struggle to get a refund from your bank.
