Which Tablet?

I need some advice in which tablet to go for for my son. I am torn between the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids 7 8GB WIFI Yellow
and SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab 3 7" Tablet - 8 GB, Black. I am not very techy so I would really appreciate help with weighing up the pros and cons of each. The kids version is down to £99 and the regular is £120. Not too much difference in price.

Thank You.

You don't say how old he is. The advantage of the Kids version is that you can easily restrict their time on it and what apps they use and it has a very young interface. 3 - 7, maybe.
If he is a little older then the infant look of the tablet may not be to his taste (or his friends). In that case I'd definitely buy him the full version...

Could try the Hudl 2 £129. Can get rubber/silicone case which is aimed at kids. Plus it does come with app called child safety, so can restrict what apps are used, set time limits and few other features. Or you can simply not use that app
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j
  • thanks guys he is 4. He has another childrens tablet which he doesn't seem to like as the touch screen is not very sensitive and it is generally a bit slow. the games and apps for it are ridiculously expensive so this is why I am opting to get him a tablet for the free/cheaper apps.

I wouldn't be worried about restricting time on it etc as I just do this myself i.e take it off him. The only apps I would likely to have on it would be ones for him, and could hopefully put restrictions on the internet explorer to make it child friendly.

I liked the look of the Samsung kids one as thought it would be more hard wearing and drop resistant etc but think I may go for the normal galaxy with a really good cover. May have to go to the store to check them out in real life.

Neilwoods- the hudls look brilliant, but think I will stick with the Samsung brand as he already knows how to navigate their layout from playing with family members galaxy phones.

Before you do...check out Matteo Doni's review of the Hudl 2

    http://www.todoleo.com/2014/10/tesco-hudl-2.html

He is a tech advisor to Tesco as well as working for Skyscanner and he recommends the Hudl as being very good to keep children safely behind the gate - so to speak.
Plus the fact that the Hudl is apparently not too far distant from pure Android (Whereas Samsung put a lot of bloatware on their devices. I know, as I have a Galaxy Note that is full of stuff I can't remove!).

AFAIK there is no easy way to restrict the Internet (if at all) on a Samsung as it's supposed to be more for adult use. Just my tuppence-ha'penny-worth ;)
