Roger or anyone else who knows the DLA changeover dates

Someone came to me and asked about the date our area changes to PIP when asking for a reconsideration of existing DLA award, the postcode is DH (they don't live in my village so I don't know the number but I don't believe that's relevant anyway)

Thanks.

You can only ask for a reconsideration if the award was less than 28 days ago.
  • This is the current timetable. Post code timescales are for current fixed term DLA awards. Indefinite awards start to be processed from October 2015 to end 2017. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/364465/timetable-for-pip-replacing-dla.pdf

If there's a change in their condition or disability it is my understanding that it's not an MR they need but to make a new PIP claim (unless the DLA award's only recently been made but this seems highly unlikely). If they're currently in receipt of DLA and they apply for pip their DLA payments will continue until a pip decision is made.

Be careful when reporting a change in condition. I've heard a lot of stories where people have done this and had to apply for PIP and lost everything. It maybe better for OP to stay as they are until they renewal date.
  • Postcode map - the next codes on 17 November 2014 will be Chester, Huddersfield, Liverpool, Manchester. Those coloured orange on this map.

Yes Poppy this was a long considerattion of ours but my OH health has detriorated so much since his original DLA award ( only getting low rate care) that he should be getting more help, and we didnt want to wait till he was called up for PIP poss 2016/17, so we took the risk. It is worrying though that he could lose all and we havent heard a thing for 3 months since applying. We wiil ao course appeal if this happened as he is very ill.

Some people are waiting many months before they hear anything, there is a thread on this section of the site that talks about PIP timescales
