Samsung 840EVO SSD

Anybody had any luck swapping from a Hard Disk Drive to one of these?

I can't get mine to work and unsure whether it's faulty.

Thanks

I had no problems doing this. Just used the samsung software to clone my HDD to the SSD and then installed the SSD. Is your BIOS looking for the SSD to boot from correctly ?
  • That's the thing tberry.

Firstly, the Samsung software tell me the clone has failed right at the end of a near two hour process.

I've used other software, but when I put the drive in, the laptop just kind of turns itself on and off repeatedly. F2 Bios option is there whilst it's doing this, but the key doesn't work.

I certainly didn't think it would be this hard!

This is probably a silly question but is the SSD big enough for the contents of the original HDD ?.

If so Have you tried reformating the SSD. I seem to remember the first time I tried to clone my HDD it failed but went ok after I reformated the SSD, no idea why though.

Have you checked that your laptop bios will allow an SSD (it is possible that it won't, but rare)

Same here. Two laptops successfully updated with the Samsung 500GB SSD using the supplied transfer software. Worked like a charm but the very first thing I did was to ensure that each laptop had the very latest BIOS installed.
