Accessing internet

I tried to access the internet from my home laptop last week, but kept getting 'page cannot be displayed'. So I tried via my work laptop - but using the home wifi - same issue - pages wouldn't load (tried several pages).
Strange thing - when I use my work laptop via my work login - i.e. work network - my work laptop works fine.
Spoke to Talktalk - they tested lines and said internet and wifi connections were fine - so it must be the laptop.
So I then spoke to HP - they claimed that since everything else was working on the laptop it wasn't their responsibility and I needed to pay to speak to an adviser.
I notice that Norton which I have loaded is no longer working - could this be related to a firewall issue? or an update?
Any ideas?
Thanks
F

There is usually a button or pinhole at the back. Have you any other items that utilise WiFi? Phones etc?0 -
Hi
Yes mobile phones use wifi and there have been no issues
Will try with the cable

Uninstall Norton entirely if possible. I'm pretty sure that Norton requires the monthly sacrifice of livestock in order to work correctly.0

@francohoops it is probably down to TT tweaking (aka screwing up) their DNS. I have been using TT for 3 years the support is between dire and useless and occasionally it is [STRIKE]wonderful[/STRIKE] ok adequate.
I would personally set up your pc (better still your router but more difficult) you use other DNS servers.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -

How exactly is this not helping the OP. I work in tech support myself and Norton is often the source of every single network related ballache I come across.
OP can you open command prompt and try to ping google.com
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-vista/open-a-command-prompt-window
Then type inping google.com0
