Also be wary of the type of caravan park you choose. The small independant ones which have often passed down the family are some of the worst. Most have very "loose" Terms and conditions, if any at all..and seem to make up the rules as they go along.. Sometimes you are forced to take out insurance organised by them, buy the gas bottles off them and they set the unit rate of electricity...I have even heard of some charging you to take the electricity meter reading...You have no control on yearly rent increases or the period the site is open....If it's a sought after location and it's a full site, some go as far as increasing the rent so much that it forces some people off the site to allow new caravans to come on = a nice bit of 30% commission on a 40k - 50k caravan...
I'm not saying all sites are like this....but be wary...very wary....0 -
Interesting reading. Heard the spill quite a few times.
We holiday at Park Resorts on mid week breaks 2/3 times a year.
Like the Isle of wight - Our favorite is Nodes Point nr Bembridge.
The main points of us going to one is we can take our dog on a value break out of season.
Some families live on these sites all year instead of a house.
I have heard these vans cost about £100 a week in running costs.
Knightstyle - I too think you would just be better to holiday rent, hassle free. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0
