If you have the same problem again the answer would be to request the Customer Service refund your entire shopping and then rescan all of your shopping.
Me thinks they won't be to keen on doing this although if they want to be awkward then I would be equally awkward and insist on it.0 -
If the overcharged item wasn't within the scope of Sainsburys 'brand matching' items then the assistant was quite wrong. Even if it WAS in the brand matching she was still wrong - because then it was just petty and poor customer service.
If I return an item to Tesco they don't knock the points back off my clubcard, though not sure how much of a refund they would allow before they did do that.
I like the suggestion from dacouch :rotfl:Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
I would phone the careline and explain the item that was scanned twice was a Sainsburys own label and would not affect the BM value. They should either give you a gift card with that money on, credit Nectar card with the value of the BM coupon or both as compensation.
The CSA was in the wrong.
I have bought clothing before from Sainsburys when there was a spend £60, get 10p off a litre of fuel. A few days later, I returned one of the items of clothing. Was I asked for my fuel coupon? No. I could have used it as I was leaving the store.
I think Sainsburys are considering knocking off Nectar points on refunding as you can get 800 point coupons when spending £15 on TU clothing. Scan the coupon and then a few days later, you return the item and still have 800 plus the cost of the clothing points. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks for all your replies.
I wasn't asked for my nectar card so I kept the points.I'm not sure how they take off nectar points???
I tend to mistype any company I mention on here as I don't want them getting free publicity. I don't really understand to be honest (a friend has tried to explain it to me in the past and I'm still none the wiser) but that's why I mistype!0 -
They were wrong.
On a related note, it really bugs me that sainsbury's don't compensate you for over charging or double scanning. Even Asda give you a £2 gift card by way of apology. The way i see it, it's an extra incentive for them to make sure they get it right first time.0 -

Well you are having the opposite effect, someone searching for Sainsburys brand match might come across this thread and decide not to shop at Sainsburys due to the poor customer service. By misspelling Sainsburys all you are doing is helping Sainsburys by having one less negative result in their search results.0 -

Fair point!!! Hadn't thought of that !0 -
I think it's only usual practice to mistype a store name when discussing a deal they might rescind, isn't it? Like if there's a price glitch, to delay them figuring it out so more people can take advantage.0
