LED strip lights query

Hi
I would like to buy a roll of 5m bright LED strip lighting for our conservatory.
Rather than stick the LED strip around the edge of the frames, is there another way I can use the strip lighting? would double sticky tape work or is there some type of cover available?
also whats the best way to connect the strip lights, soldering or connector kit?
thanks

Hi
also whats the best way to connect the strip lights, soldering or connector kit?Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

I thought you could solder wire between strips? not solder the strips directly to each other!0 -
I was looking at something similar for a wardrobe, you can get metal strips (like U shape) which the tapes fit into with a plastic diffuser strip to hide the LEDs - weren't cheap though, around £10/m.
You also see strips like this that come ready made - rigid LED bars.
I can't quite visualise how you'd use these in a conservatory though - might be a bit glaring if they're shining into the room around the windows and doors.0 -
Are you trying to hide the actual led strip?
Because you will still see the leds as a reflection in the glass of the conservatory. see below
not sure what you are trying to achieve to be honest, you could use trunking without the top?

my parents conservatory was rebuilt a few years ago, its a Victorian style roof with ridge and box gutter to the wall. Long story short the firm did not offer any lights or allow for any wiring. They use lamps in the room, but its still dark at times.
What I was thinking of either fitting LED strips under the window ledge (which is wooden base with about 1" ledge internally), thus the LEDs will be hidden and pointing downwards. OR fit the LEDs in a diffuser strip and fit under the box gutter (using double sticky tape) around that edge of the room.
I have ordered a 5m RGB kit from ebay yesterday to try some ideas; but learning more about how to use and fit LEDs strips.
I got a 1m kit from LEDHUT but it has limited options.
surprised how expensive LED diffuser strips are, using cable trunking is a good idea but not idea in visible places.0 -
Those 5m rolls are great, you can see the 'cut here' points which are safe to cut at, and yes you can extend them by joining at those points using a connecting kit or a few blobs of solder if you're delicate0
