Phone and broadband when leaving rental

Tomorrow I'll be dropping in a letter of notice to the letting agent / landlord as I'll be moving in with my partner soon.
I've just cancelled my Talk Talk contract as although my tenancy will go on till 28 November I wont be at the property constantly between now and then so have no need to continue the service. The TT contract is now due to end on 14 November.
The TT advisor did mention a reactivation charge that might be applicable if I wanted to start up services again. Obviously I'm guessing that any provider might make that charge if the line has been inactive for a couple of weeks so any new tenants might face a bigger first bill.
Do I need to tell the LA/LL that I've terminated the plan before the end of the tenancy?
Have I done the right thing or am I obligated in any way to maintain an active phone line at the property even if I don't want / need it?

You are not obliged to have a phone or internet at all so up to you when you cancel. Up to the new tenant to reconnect.0

nothing todo with the landlordDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Unless there was a specific clause in your contract about maintaining a phone line then you have done exactly the right thing. Check your agreement to be safe but I am betting 99% there is nothing in there.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

My agreement doesnt say anything about maintaining a line, just that the tenant has to immediately take over any utility accounts relevant to the property and let them know if I change any suppliers.
I don't think there was a live line when I moved in. I was already a Talk Talk customer and did a home move so I think they waved any reconnection fees. Certainly wasn't given any account details to 'take over'.
All sorted and ready to get packing then

Make sure you take meter reading of the Gas and Electric meters when you leave and give them to the utilities supplier, take pictures of meter reading to be on the safe side.
And take meter reading yourself when moving into a new place...
Never rely on LL/LA to do it for you....
