    op this is clearly a scam as you have found out. have you notified the place you found the original ad, and/or the police? You have been careful, others may not be.

    Absolutely correct. An important conclusion is to get this scum nailed; we owe that to other decent people who work for a living instead of making a career as a two-bit thief.

    Yes I plan on it but I won't do it immediately because he has my name/address so I don't want to make it obvious that it was me(i'd be the last guy he communicated with), that reported him.

    Of course, he may well not be in Liverpool at all, but somewhere like Nigeria.

    Even if you called him on a Liverpool number, or he called you with a Liverpool number as caller ID, these things mean nothing - anyone can buy a UK phone number with any area code.

    spot on, can't beleive people still fall for these scams, especially when the property involved is a 2 bed flat in South Kensington for £90 a week.
