My Mrs want to open a account online wondering if she would be able to open it without going to the brach.

She got 1 credit card and one phone contract on her name since april and also on electoral.

Thanks

Most bank accounts will allow her to open one online and as she is in tg electoral role she should be able to be electronically verified so going into branch won't be necessary. She should look what she wants from her account and apply on that basis. Look at the guides on this website and read the forum to find which will be the best.

Good luck and post back who she went with and her experience of the application.

I can only comment from personal experience - I closed my Santander account because of indifferent service, and what I felt was antiquated and clunky oline banking, and have had no problems at all with Nationwide. I opened online and haven't been to a branch ever except to pay the odd cheque in.

Depending on what the DDs are, it might be worth going with Santander as they pay cashback on some DDs. The account costs £2/mth though.

I have accounts with both, Santander and Nationwide. There is nothing between them - both have decent online banking and apps, as well as branch support if you need it.

I have four current accounts: RBS, Clydesdale, Nationwide and TSB. The easiest to open were RBS and TSB, although RBS was some time ago. It is not possible to open a Clydesdale/Yorkshire bank account online (or wasn't when I last checked). For Nationwide I had to send proof of ID to them, which was a bit of a pain. I'm on the electoral roll, which was enough for TSB but not for Nationwide.

    Nationwide, TSB or Halifax.
They can generally be opened instantly.

Does her credit card provider offer a current account?
