What seats to book at the theatre

Hi
I am hoping to book some west end theatre tickets for my upcoming trip to london on Friday with my mum and 14 year old brother.
I have been having a look at some of the shows and I just don't know if it is worth buying the cheapest tickets. Will we even be able to see anything or does it really depend on the theatre? I was thinking about booking charlie and the chocolate factory if that makes a difference. (Was hoping for Matilda but they are sold out
