Removal firms-to or from?

Sorry if it's a daft question...

Do people always use a removal firm based near where they live or has anyone used one from the new destination?

I'm going to be moving from the North West to the South West and there don't seem to be any removal firms near me-although there are some where I'm moving to.

They normally come round and work out a quote, so we have always used local ones.

We got quotes from local removal companies and in Kent when we moved from Warwickshire to Kent four months ago. It was cheaper to use a local firm who were able to see the property and quote more accurately.

Could try a big operator. I used G B Liners and was very satisfied. Beat my husband's local outfit hands down.
  • Hi Contessa :)

Hope all is well with you? Sounds as though you've had an offer, if so congrats!

We're in a similar boat - ours is SSTC and had our offer accepted - but will be moving from South to North. We intend to get quotes from a couple of local firms that do long-distance removals and a couple of nationals as well.

Hope it all works out for you x

  • I've always used Pickfords whenever we moved. I found them the easiest to work with and the cheapest too. They are a nationwide company.

  • Have a look on really moving. All the national ones were really expensive for us.
