Claiming former housemates share of Council tax back after paying for her?

Not sure if this is the correct forum
2 friends lived together and agreed to pay half of council tax each and both had names on it. Person A moved out to live with their partner, leaving Person B bitter and jealous and refusing to pay their share of council tax.
Both were liable as both had names on the bill, and Person A being the only one with common sense and a credit history to lose decided to pay Person B's share in order to avoid action (and possible ccjs) being taken against both.
Is there a way, or will it be a good case in court to get Person B's share of the Ctax back in Person As pocket?
EDIT - Both tenants moved out and this is regarding the final payment.
Thanks

Person A is mad!
When Person A moved out he/she should have written to the council to tell them and all liability would have ceased. If Person B then did not pay, that would be Person B's problem.
When Person A moved out, Person B should have written to claim 25% Single Person Discount.
If Person A now wishes to sue Person B they will have to prove the date they moved out (ending their CT liability - difficult as they did not tell the council).
Bear in mind that the council does not 'apportion' shares of the council tax. they do not charge each person half each. CT is payable in full on the property, and will chase each person for the full amount, in a specific order.
I suppose Person A might be able to now inform the council of the date he/she moved out, and claim back the CT paid since that date..........0 -
Assuming A and B were renting together, what tenancy did they have when A moved out?0

Thanks for reply.

They had a joint tenancy. Both were on the Council tax bill too.0 -

Can you get a ccj for not paying council tax, I didnt think you could?0

You can but its very rare as councils have other ways of chasing payments such as Liability Orders. With a LO they can chase anyone named on the bill for payment and bailiffs can be used to collect payment.
Toonpatriot aka Person A, is there any hope of salvaging this friendship? Do you even want to? If not then send Person B a letter before action.0 -
It is my missus. Not me. If it was me, I would have it by now. Believe me.
If we know we have a case which we can win, she wll have every chance to pay back before hand... But I can not explain how bitter and twisted she became.
Fixed term or periodic??
I know she had to renew it after 6 months and would have had to pay a fee to renew it should they have stayed after 6 months.0 -
Person B is probably just upset about having to give up the flat and the home she'd built with her friend and taken the news badly then behaved in a less than adult way. Hopefully she'll realise she's behaved like a plum before the friendship is completely down the pooper.0

Friendship is completely down the pooper. My missus wanted to move out after a month of her bringing back housefuls of random people when she was up for work at 6am.
My missus would have moved out regardess if it was in with me or not. lol
If this was taken to court. Do you think that she would be liable to reimburse due to an agreement of half each (evidenced by the first 5 payments?0
