Web site design and hosting

Hi
I'm helping my partner get a very simple, 3/4 page website on line to promote her startup speech therapy busines (no online payment required). We are looking for hosting and template website design that we can improve on later, for a low price.
There seem to be a large number of providers and no easy way to compare them, so any advice would be appreciated.
TIA

Wix.com is very easy to use, from experience.
  • Buy your domain, then it is yours, you or your business owns it...as long as you pay the renewal fees.

It is worth the small fee to ask someone to put 4 pages together for you, use a freelancer on Peopleperhour.

Can recommend Vidahost a good domain/ hosting provider.

As said you can get free sites at places like Wix and also wordpress.com.

Some of them in my experience can look less than professional though so it does depend on what kind of impression you want to give, depends if you are testing the water or launching a business to a degree.

Some of the ones who charge, I have a colleague who went with the 1&1 service they advertise a lot on the tv, can work out expensive over time given their monthly fee - We had a site built from scratch to our needs by a local company for less than he is paying per year.

I purchased my domain name and use weebly.com. I can highly recommend it, very easy to use and very easy to update.

Personally I always recommend speaking to someone who understands web development and design as they will ensure your site is designed and developed to the best standards, which for the small fee you are charged, is likely to save you time and money in the long run, especially when it comes to hosting and ensuring you have the correct set up for your business.

There are of course lots of free services online but the design/functionality is not always great and if you do not know how to use these tools you can end up spending lots of time trying to set everything up when you could be using this time to conentrate on growing your business or marketing.

I have worked in the web industry for over 7 years and have recently started my own web design business specialising in websites and hosting for small businesses, which sounds like just the thing you are looking for.

I will be happy to give you some free advice on getting started if you want to message me.

Wholly agree, from a business point of view DIY rarely makes sense.

OP, thinking back to your original post

Get it right first time so that that it is a good advert and then develop it as your business ideas mature.
