Frustration with Barclays over online access to mortgage account

Options
I have a Barclays base rate tracker mortgage which was originally a Woolwich one. My recent annual statement said that I could get online access to details of my balance and payments. I wasted a whole hour this morning being passed from person to person to do what seemed to be to be pretty straightforward process. Then, just as it was almost complete, I was cut off by a connection failure on the phoneline. I tried to ring again but didn't know who to ask for. I was taken through the security questions 4 times.
Has anyone else had similar problems with Barclays phone services?

Best advice I can ever give to anyone considering any kind of relationship with Barclays?

    Avoid.

  • Barclays have excellent online mortgage access now. Mine just popped up when I logged into my normal online current account. I can see all of my barclays accounts including an isa and I can easily make overpayments to my mortgage e.t.c.

Sometimes easiest to make a written request.

My original mortgage account was with Woolwich not Barclays which wouldn't be my choice.

My perspective is application to offer, rather than post-completion, but I can't say I've ever enjoyed doing anything with them. Sadly, the lenders who will do 75% on BTL newbuild flat can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

It sounds like your main bank account with offset mortgage is with Barclays. Mine isn't. I only have a tracker mortgage with them. You could perhaps answer 1 question for me. Do you need a keypad/extra security passwords just to view your mortgage balance and payments? In my call to Barclays, i was told that I would need one but I don't with my current account with FD. It is only required with certain services. I then got cut off with a voice saying that there was a fault on the line.
FD has never kept me holding for 20 mins or more with no idea as to when my question will be answered.
  • I had until recently 2 barclays credit cards

utterly useless for me too for 3 whole years they NEVER EVER EVER managed to get my online account access problems solved. Twice they gave me £50 compensation for the problems (so that bit was good LOL), however they never ever managed to get me online access, not even after zillions of phonecalls and formal investigations on their behalf.

glad it works for some people

I won't move my mortgage account because it is a very good rate on a lifetime base rate tracker but my recent experience of Barclays phone customer services mean that i would never return to a main account with them. My first bank account was Barclays but I changed way back in the early to mid 80's.

Glad it's not just me having this problem. When my current account was set up in about 2007, someone in their branch told me that the account would be closed if I didn't use it for a month. In my call I was trying to reactivate it so I could view the mortgage account online but failed dismally.
