No smelly. I have looked into it. As I have signed on their premises, and left a deposit( will have it retuned to me, when I pick up the car), I don't have a leg to stand on. I suppose I could cancel the deal and lose the deposit (£300), and technically they could take me to court(although they wouldn't). The car has been registered now, I have a reg plate, I have changed my insurance. It is just meant to be a happy time, but I feel sad about it really. Maybe last time, it was the fact that it was the first time I have a new car, and this time I realise, the smell fades, the gadgets never used, and it just becomes a car.

Maybe fuel savings from last car to this one will make up the difference per month, and kind of justify the change; and you'll be in a brand new Merc.
Got to try and see the positives, I'm driving round in a green Passat, so there are those a lot worse off!
  • Ive bought 1 brand new car (not PCP) and the novelty wore off in a few weeks, after a few months I was board of the £350 per month payments for a car to sit outside my work for 9 hours a day. So I sold it (lost loads obviously) and now only buy good used cars, the appeal of a 'brand new' car soon went away as you said which is probably why your not as excited about the whole thing.

Also being over 4 years will you be responsible for any repairs needed outside warrenty?

Doesn't help now, but worth considering for the future or others thinking of PCP over 4 years.

Leasing can be a good option, especially over 2 years, deals like this have been creeping up recently.

  • Straight onto mercs site £339 for a c class with a three grand deposit. I'm guessing your car is worth more than three grand.

I will do the same again as soon as this runs out, but I think the mistake I have made, is doing it over 4 years. They wouldn't even entertain over 3 years to get me near the price I wanted to pay. Therefore I will struggle to part ex it in 3 years now, as I know I will still be in negative equity. This is where I have made a grave error. I foolishly compared the difference between what i was paying and what I will be paying, and disregarded the fact it is a year longer. I know I needed new tyres for my soon to be old car, and the benefit is that over 3 years, without an MOT needed, I can trade in without that cost, next time I will struggle. Messed up with this one..

You should be able to return the one you've just signed up for once you've paid 50% of the total transaction price with nothing more to pay (subject to the car being maintained properly). This is your right under the Consumer Credit Act.

That will probably occur around the 3 year+ mark. It'll be on the contract you sign.

I think the deal you got is reasonable enough. The four year thing wouldnt worry me. My wife got a z4 in Mar 2012 on PCP and deliberately put it on a 4 year deal.

That's the point I think motor guy. I didn't want reasonable, I wanted the salesman squirming. It was unfair as after a while he brought out another guy, so I had two of them trying to flog this car to me, and I think I buckled to easy.
