PlayStation 3 Slim Faulty, Sales of Goods Act

Hi there,
I purchased a PlayStation 3 Slim just over 1.5 years ago. For the last 9 months it has behaved very sporadically. I had assumed it was my television set, however since replacing this and purchasing three replacement HDMI cables, I have ascertained that it is highly likely that the GPU (graphics processing unit) within the console is faulty.
Unfortunately, the unit is out of warranty, however I had expected that a device of this value would have lasted over a year, especially considering it's minimal use.
Having spoken with the manufacturer and got nowhere, I contacted Sainsburys's online, where I purchased the device from. They sad they are happy to look at the options re Sales of Goods Act but have said:
I have contacted three console repair companies now who have all said they don't provide this service. Can anyone advise me on what to do next? I am a very competent person when it comes to technology - it is my job. I am certain the GPU is faulty, but I am struggling to find a company who can give me this in writing. I completely understand why Sainsburys need me to do this, but they have not been very helpful in offering me suggestions on where I could get this job done.

As the warranty has expired the onus is on you to prove that the goods were faulty at the time of sale. This means that you have to arrange for an engineer to provide a report at your own expense.

Unfortunately Sainsburys don't have to offer any suggestions, they are simply complying with the law. All you can do realistically is keep searching for a place that will give you a report for repair - if the quote for what is wrong says it was an inherent fault and not through misuse etc, Ssinsburys will refund you the cost of the report.0
