Good grief, what a palaver. Stay sane, vent as much as you need - we're all behind you here and sending sympathy and best wishes.

Hope you get it sorted soon!

What a big heart you have opening your home to them - lovely thing to do.

It must be tough - stay strong. Just remember that in a few weeks this time will just be a memory.

Ok you've done your 2 weeks. I would tell them that the dogs now need to be in kennels until they are ready to move out. That will alleviate one problem at least - and it might make them think!

Sorry - it is now 4 weeks and I agreed to 2 weeks.

The dogs need to be re-housed; perhaps contact the local sanctuary for temporary help.

Not responsible enough to get insurance; they are unlikely to be responsible enough to sort out the repairs.

They can move back in with a camping cooker and a microwave as soon as the power is on.

Have they asked the electrician to get the undamaged curcuits back working, so they can move back in PDQ?

I would be loath to house any relatives or friends who found themselves in such a situation. I would only do so in an extreme emergency and it would be on the understanding that they complied with the house rules. That would include an 'out by' date too.

The dogs would be another matter. We don't allow them in our house under any circumstances and they would have to be kennelled. To expect to take dogs (or any animals) into anyone's house is absolutely unacceptable.
