Hi just wondering if anyone can help
My phone has stopped receiving calls and I can't get a dial tone. I have an adsl splitter so I took that out of the wall and connected my phone direct to the wall socket. The phone then worked but I obviously can't get an internet connection. Is this just a problem with the splitter thingie do I need a new one - or is there something else going on? have doen the BT fault check online and they say nothing's wrong with the line
Many thanks

Sounds like the microfilter ("splitter"). A new one is only a fiver or so, so try that first.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

I had this problem, the fault was not with the ADSL filter but with a faulty talktalk router which was somehow locking the line.0

Thanks it has just stopped working today and I have had the router and the splitter for years now! I unfortunately don't have a test socket in my master socket though so can't use the dropbox tutorial0

You can still use it - just not all aspects of it.
Do you have any extension phone sockets? (e.g. wired from the back of the faceplate). If yes, does/do this/these also have filters (splitters) fitted?0 -
I had the same problem last week i could only have Wifi or telephone line and not both together.I am with Aol/TalkTalk and called them up and they re adjusted the settings their end.Its been intermittent lots of times but now telephone is ok but Wifi connection goes and i go to Only local on the wifi so they are sorting that out now.But i changed spliters and checked all wires and no way is anything to do with me.0
