This weeks update....
As you know I am getting all sewed up and hoping to make, modify and upcycle lots of things with my new FREE sewing machine... that's my big news of the week along with
It's only six weeks to Christmas
*I have most of my presents organised, I have six left to buy and £50 to do it with so that will take come creative and careful thought. It's mainly men's presents... I do find guys very hard to buy for.
*I'm using the red and gold decorations I have had up for the last few years again. I am not parting with any more money on new decorations when the old ones are perfectly fine. Hopefully, next year I will have some new things to add to my Xmas decor like homemade stockings, napkins, Christmas bunting, tablecloth and runner etc.
*My food budget is normally around £60 per week. I am aiming for £100 Christmas week max. I still have my Christmas food plan to organise, I shall do that towards the latter part of November.
*Wrapping paper - I have some from last year and several recycled Xmas gift bags. I shall use those and I have bought a packet of three rolls from M&S that had been opened and one roll was crushed and ripped a bit. That was reduced from £6 to £3 and the paper is lovely quality. The kids shall get my cheap, easy to rip stock of paper and adults my M&S quality wrap.
*Gift tags are already made from last year's Xmas cards. I have been doing this for years... as I have always loved recycling.
*Christmas cards - again mainly last year's spares with a cheap box thrown in from Asda and a packet of charity cards to do my bit for a good cause.
* I want little one to have a spiritual and festive rather than solely consumer based Christmas so I have several things written on the calendar for us to celebrate together. This includes a Christmas Carol concert at the local church, mince pie and Christmas fair at the Boy Scots hut, the local Christmas lights switch on followed by an outside nativity, the library's Christmas story time, a Christmas cinema afternoon... a nice Christmassy film recorded off the Tv and popcorn, putting the tree up and of course Christmas baking together making a mini gluten free xmas cake and some spice gingerbread men and candy canes.
Having a young cat and three year old I think I shall put the decorations up 12 days before Christmas exactly... I don't think I could take four or five weeks of picking up Christmas baubles... if I am very unlucky... picking up the whole tree from the floor.
I don't know if I mentioned in a previous post but one of my little one's main Christmas presents is a dressing up box filled with clothes and jewellery etc.
I have bought several dressing up items like doctor's coat and medical bag, ladybird deelyboppers and wings, ballerina tutu and shoes, fairy dress and wings, a couple of masks and chunky necklaces and bangles from charity shops at very reasonable prices. Usually between 50 pence and £2.
A couple of days ago I was in @sda and they had all the Halloween fancy dress clothes on sale. I bought a witches outfit and hat for £2 and a pretty red devil dress (which for all purposes looks like a princess dress) for £1.50. These items were reduced from £10 and £8... so dressing box is complete. I would love to buy her a Princess dress from her very favourite film (Frozen) however £12 is a lot of money. I am hoping... in a few months as my sewing skills improve, an Elsa dress shall be whizzing through my machine.
Time to take my £bay parcels to H3rmes shop.
Have a lovely weekend y'all.
