Missing Equipment From Car Thats A Year Old - Too Late To Sort With Manufacturer?

Hi All,

This question may also be suitable for the motoring forum?

I bought a 63 Reg Chevrolet Aveo LTZ in May of this year from a dealer, it was 9 months old when I bought it and it had one previous owner.

Yesterday I was looking at the Chevrolet website, in particular at the specifications for my model and the manual for the "infotainment system" which confirms that a rear view camera comes as standard with the Infotainment system for Aveo LTZ models (2013 onwards)
However my car doesn't have one for some reason.

The dealer I bought it from DID NOT advertise there was a rear view camera, so they have sold me the car correctly.
It is obviously apparent that this piece of kit was missed off on the production line, but that the previous owner was unaware it was missed off or not bothered about it.

So this leads to my question, Is there anything I can do to get Chevrolet to correct this? even though I am now the second owner and it's been 13 months since the registration? Do I have any legal leg to stand on?

I understand that Chevrolet will probably tell me no and that I should not have bought the car if it did not have the features I wanted, but shouldn't their quality control team have picked up on this before they delivered it to the last owner?

Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks

For all you know the original buyer may have got a discount for not wanting the cameras. Cars can be made to customer requirements, things like this can be taken away as well as added.

Apart from that you don't have any rights any way, you got what you paid for.

How do you know you have a 2013 model? Just because it is a 63 plate doesn't mean it was made in 2013 or is even a 2013 model.

Have you read a car brochure, usually at the bottom "specifications subject to change". The car may also have been part of a fleet purchase where many "nice bits" are dropped to bring the costs down or designed for another market.

I bought a car once and there were several changes to the one in the showroom and brochure, some positive and some negative but on balance the gains on spec outweighed the losses.

Ahh yes, that thought never crossed my mind actually, that could have been a possibility. Thanks.
