Hiya
does anyone have any suggestions for a short 3/4 night break at the end of January 2 adults, bit of sight seeing and good food.
Ideally flying with a budget airline such as Norwegian Air.

It will all depend on where you can fly from and when you want to go (midweek? Weekend?). Obviously budget comes into it to.
With a bit more info, https://www.skyscanner.net will be very useful. Select your departure airport, dates, and put "Everywhere" as your destination. Will show you where's available on virtually all airlines and where's cheapest.0 -
of course, sorry forgot that bit!
Will be flying from London Gatwick, either midweek or weekend we're flxible, just dont want to end up somewhere with nothing to do/look at/visit or everything is shut for winter.0 -
I'd suggest a city break making your choice around the cost of flights. Cities don't shut down for the winter and there are generally choices of outdoor sightseeing and indoor galleries and museums to occupy you depending on the weather.
I could recommend loads but don't rule out Edinburgh and Dublin as well as further afield.0 -
For my money, Spain is likely to be best, cheapest, and half a chance of decent weather. Use http://flightchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/
on this website and you'll see 3-4 nighters in Jan to Malaga, Barcelona, Palma-Mallorca or other destinations for £50-60 return each. And you don't have to go to a dreadfully chavvy area in any of those places; Malaga is a beautifully elegant city, and even out of season Barca is bubbling with masses to do. Cheapish transfers (dependent on airport you go to- Barcelona el Prat is a few Euros and 20 mionutes on the bus and links from malaga are cheap- with good local buses if you want to go on an hour to Nerja- another elegant Spanisg resort. We've been in tee-shirts in both Mallorca and Barca in Feb, although weather can be harsher than an English spring. Palma old town offers you the wonderful cheap little train through the mountains to Soller as a day trip too so no need for a car.
Use Tripadvisor to cross check the quality of hotels but there will be bargains cos unlike Italy, Spain has realised there's a recession on!0 -
We did a second city break to Valencia this January. Was busier at the weekend. Have the main city area and also the city of arts and science http://www.cac.es.
Weather was T-shirt / light jumper. We flew from Gatwick with Easy jet. The airport is 8km from city and linked by to the metro network.0 -
There's Mardi Gras in February 17 which would add to a winter break.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

we went to Nice in Feb last year, it was lovely. They have a carnival every year, but it is February not Jan though. It's a lovely city, especially the old town, you can also visit Monaco for the day too. By bus or train, it's very easy to get there from Nice.0

We went to Berlin the first week of February, needed to wrap up warm but it was fantastic!0

We're getting a bit closer. Decided we fancy a winter snow type holiday as opposed to winter sun. So looking at somewhere like Austria? Staying somewhere traditional (chalet / log fire) doesn't have to be snow drifts but wintery and open!
