Do MBNA still merge cards/limits?

I have two MBNA cards. A new one, got for the no transfer fee option and a standard replacement for the now defunct Amazon card.

I don't want the standard replacement Amazon account now, it's of no use to me, so do MBNA still merge limits like they used to and close one account?

If so, is there a preferred way to request this? (Best by phone or messaging for example?) Or does it not make any difference?

I did this a while ago, it was no problem, one thing though, tell them you want to move the limit and then close the card, not tell them you want to close the card and then tell them you want to move the limit

yes, they can certainly still do this..but sometimes you have to persuade them a little bit. i have always spoken to them on the telephone to make limit mergers happen.

good luck. be prepared to take your time with them...explaining that you really need the limit to be able to use the terms available...and if you hit a brick wall with first assistant, ask for someone else.
