is it true i can be affected by the bad debts of a previous owner of my house. if so that may be why ive been declined for 2 credit cards and one debit.
also i would like to know if this cycle of decline from credit card companies would affect my credit rating. i applied for the credit cards over 12months apart.
p.p.s the woman in the bank was quite snotty when i whent into complain about not being able to have a debit card when i have a good credit rating and had never had an overdraft, only once missed a debit payment at which point she said oh that might be the problem closed her books and was very closed. i had been with the bank for four years. i was so angry i phoned the head office at which they said no certainly not would they refuse me for a debit card for that reason. so... there id just like to know the possible reasons.

Your credit score cannot be affected by the previous owner of your house.
It can't even be affected by anyone living in the same house as you unless you are financially tied to them eg: joint current account/joint personal loan or mortgage.
When applying for any form of credit you will be 'credit scored' by the particular financial institution concerned. You do not have a 'credit rating' -
please see Martin's article on that subject on his main website.
Hope you get things sorted soon.0 -
Have you considered moving to/talking to another bank?
Also, if you don't mind saying, which credit cards did you apply for. Some have much stricter criteria than others.0 -
Are you on the electoral register at this address?0
