ok, i've got an ibook g4 (1.42ghz, 512mb). i've seen a place where i can get another 512mb ram delivered for £15 (samsung). should i/shouldn't i?
the ibook's great - it's doing its job fine. no complaints. actually i love it. it doesn't seem slow or nothing. no particular reason to do it in fact! so should i do it?
all advice grateful received!
--- edit ---
please scroll down a bit and it will make sense! someone has suggested that corsair memory may not be up to much. has anyone had experience of it one way or the other?

IF you are confident in adding more then why not. You are obviously thinking about it as you have got a price.

apparently it's not that hard to do. but do you think it'll be useful? the ibook is only a couple of years old and doesn't really *need* it. but i'd like to get as much life out of it as possible. My signature has been removed by the authorities. More RAM will always be useful.0

Macs tend to be fussy about RAM. I invariably buy mine from Crucial. In my experience, MacOS 10.4 really likes to have at least 1GB. If you have less than that, it will be using the Hard Drive as "virtual memory" in the background. That will inevitably slow down some operations.0

i looked at the retailer i found and did a google and got scared! so i've pre-ordered 512mb of corsair from play.com for £17.99 less quidco. which i don't think is too bad. unless someone tells me otherwise! My signature has been removed by the authorities. Well I did suggest "Crucial". If your cheap memory causes problems, don't blame me.

If you think things are slow you can run a system performance utility. It's in the utilities somewhere. It shows how much processor and memory capacity is in use. The mac I use to do video editing has nearly always 100% processor used but the memory is only 40% used.
You can check you need the upgrade before doing it.
I got my mac memory from Orca Logic and the first one was faulty but they replaced with no fuss.0 -

I didn't think that Corsair was too bad.
