Electric Quote

Hi I would like to know what you think about an electric quote I got. A new consumer unit plus rewire three new extensions four double sockets and three downlighters in one room two double sockets and six single sockets in another plus one downlighter and an extractor fan. And in the last one extension four double sockets plus two down lighters. He is supplying all material plus labour and then doing the paper work for the building warrant. All for £1200. Cheers

that seems very reasonable...if not cheap in my mind.
we had a full rewire recently and we very roughly broke it down to costing £50 per item in addition to the consumer unit....on that basis and judging by your number of sockeys thats a far cheaper unit price than we had!

I know Electricians are expensive but I thought this was a bit much, maybe I'm wrong. Cheers

Sounds cheap to me but the only way to know is to get some more quotes!

yeah sounds expensive to me as well, get a couple more quotes and go from there, all the best and goodluck
  • If you have managed to get an electrician to come round and give you a quote you should bite his hand off! I am sitting in the dark and can't get an electrician for love nor money.

Other trades are sitting waiting for my electrics to get sorted... :(

I might have to go with that quote can't get anyone else to come around any time soon, and need job done. It would be nice to think it's not a bad deal but need it done. Cheers.

well a consumer unit on its own is between 350-500 and sockets 45 each and lights can be the same so thats not an unreasonable price

what lighting is he supplying also as led lights can be £25-£50 each just to buy

remember electricians are like gas that they have to pay a yearly fee plus pay for all the certificates and registering the jobs
