Hi thanks everyone really useful information!

Malc, on my meter readings i have 4 different rates showing

    Rate 1, 3, 4 and 5

How can i tell which one of these is for each different kwh costs, im trying to monitor it regularly to see what my true usuage is like and expected costs

    thanks :)

    Rate 1 = 13.871p, rate 3 = 17.546p and rates 4 & 5 are both 8.694p

The times when the heating circuit is active is 1pm-4pm, 8pm-10pm and 1am-6am off the top of my head. The times are controlled by a radio signal so might not be exactly the same time everyday.

    Hi Marshyman

Stewie_Griffin is about right but to be certain please drop an email to the address in my Profile. I'll take a look and give you the information specific to your meter/account.

As Stewie says, the off peak times are activated by radio signals sent out by masts across the East Midlands so can change a little.

  • Ok thanks,

Just one other question on this subject...

The 17.546p boost rate does that mean during the day or just anytime I turn on the actual boost switch for the electric boiler?, seems like a very silly question I know but could just do with it being clarified in my head

    Thanks again!

    Answered here:
The 'Boost' rate only applies to usage going through the dedicated water immersion heater circuit. It also only applies when the 'Boost' is switched on outside of the Heatwise times.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Marshyman

Sorry for the late reply. Only returned to the office today.

Istar's answered the question though. It's only when you manually hit the 'Boost' button on the meter that the rate of 17.546p per kWh applies. Then, only when it's working outside of the off peak Heatwise times.

If the 'Boost' is used during the Heatwise times, the price would be 8.694p per kWh.

This assumes your electric boiler is wired into the dedicated Heatwise circuits. If it's not, usage at any time of the day will be charged at 13.871p per kWh.

Sorry again for the late reply.
