Damart

My MIL recently received a letter from the Finance director of Damart, with a big red 'Final Reminder' on it. Being in her late 70's she became very worried at this point as she does not owe anyone money. We opened the letter and inside was a reminder to say she has not claimed her 'free gift'. This type of advertising is way over the top as the target audience is often the over 50's
The 'old girl' has enough problems with me as a SIL without this.
Peter.
P.S. she's also my boss!!!
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

This is not the first time they have had a distressing promotion.A couple of years ago there was a similar fiasco and although some people went to trading standards and individual shop managers expressed their concern to head office ,they are obviously up to ther old tricks

I get loads of junk off Damart - and now their sister company Andre De Brett has jumped in. I normally just tear off anything with my name and address on and shred that, and stick the rest in the recycle bag. They always use this ploy to remind you about some offer you've ignored, so I just ignore all of their stuff.

If it really gets on my nerves, I just might post it all back to them ... minus the bit with my name and address on ...

When sending it back, you should post it in their freepost envelope and leave your name and address on. We did that with all unwanted mail and haven't had any back.

The ASA have now come down heavily against Damart in their ruling published today:-

We have received more junk mailing from Damart today. According to this, my wife (who has only ever bought 1 item from them) has been rated to receive a "Premier Award". According to the bumf ,she has been awarded 10 out of 10 for customer status , Grade A for shopping profile and Grade 1 for reward status.

The prize (or Prix d'Excellence as they call it) is a hand painted table lamp. Except it isn't a prize at all. The only way she can get this fabulous lamp is to place another order with them. What a load of nonsense. I have now phoned Damart and asked them to remove us from their mailing list. Let's hope it works this time. I originally asked them to do this after receiving that spoof threatening letter , to no avail.
