Small Claims and PO Boxes

Didn't know where ask to this, so apologies if this is the wrong place.
I'm about to start a small claims process against my old landlord and I'd prefer he not know where I live now. I can't find anything about whether or not I can use a PO box to preserve that anonymity, so has anyone here for any experience of that? I have tried CAB and they couldn't tell me anything I didn't already find on Google, and tried the local court and they said they didn't know to practically every question I asked, so I have done some legwork.

First things first - County Court staff are not (normally) legally qualified so, whilst they will be able to advice you on procedures, they are not allowed to tell you anything which could be construed as legal advice.

To answer your query though, it is unlikely that you would be allowed to issue a claim using a PO Box - if you were to lose & have a judgment made against you then the defendant would be unable to enforce against a PO Box.
However, you would be able to make an application to the court for your address to be omitted from the claim form (the court will need to know it though).
Without an extremely good reason though it is unlikely that a District Judge would grant your application. Furthermore, the costs of the application (sorry - can't remember what the fee is) would more than likely have to be borne by yourself.
