Buying Euros tomorrow.

I'm looking to change £400 into Euros, tomorrow.
It needs to be somewhere on the high street (bank, travel agent, etc.) where I can change it on the spot.
Where would I get the best rate?

travelmoneymax is your best bet. I've often in the past been to the high street stores and told them the online rate and ones such as thomas cook have matched it..be firm and stand your ground on the rate and you'll get a good rate..otherwise prepare to get a crap rate0

Best rate will be from a fee free card....0

I'll be buying with cash.
I just want to know which high street bank, travel agent etc., is giving the best rate.0 -
As the rate can alter at anytime whatever anybody tells you on here could be out of date by the time you get to the shop, as suggested try https://www.travelmoneymax.com and if the rate is what you are happy with go for it0

I find Debenhams keeps up with rates fairly well. I think its 1.23 at the moment.0

I needed a similar amount of Euros in the summer. I went into Thomas Cook and the Post Office and asked how much they would give me. I had already got the online prices. The Post Office was by far and away the worst. I think I would have lost something like £20 by using them.
Anyway, I then went to the local Co-Op travel shop and they matched the online price.
My son-in-law was then in a similar position so I wised him up about the Post Office which he had intended to use. He then went in the Thomson shop through which he had booked his holiday and they matched the online price too.
All a bit tedious but even on such relatively small amounts of cash it can be worthwhile to shop around.0 -
I went with Ramsdens, and got 1.23700.
That gave me 495 Euros for £400-16.0 -
I haven't got round to the various card or pre-load options so always do as nsomeonen says above, and use this site's http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/
comparison; I usually end up printing a voucher or pre-ordering and going to the ones in or near my nearest central London rail termini (ICE Waterloo; 1:1.25 or Best in the Strand near Charing Cross; 1:1.255) as I dis when I travelled to Greece 2 weeks ago). So £400 or less for E500. Or use your ATM card abroad- not much dearer
But lots of other collect or pre-order airport options across the UK can be had at only up to a fiver more for 500 Euros.
Or go to your local bank- Natwest will cost £14 more, but then, if you ain't got the time and a free rail pass like us London wrinklies, it could cost you £14 to get to a collection point!0 -
Using the link given above, Debenhams would be your best as a High Street store if you have one near you that offers travel money. The rate is 1.242 at the moment giving you 496.63 Euros. By the looks of it you also get a £5 voucher off a £20 spend.
You have to either print a voucher from their site or show the cashier the web page on your phone to get the online rate.
I'll be going there tomorrow to buy my Euros as it looks like the best High Street deal.0
